Man, is there loads of fun things to do near Philpott Lake. There are other spots here than Philpott Lake, for example Bryant Lakes; close by Burch Hollow is a great place to go. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant place to camp here at Philpott Lake is Indian Heritage RV Park, and lakes are such serene spots, why not stop by Hales       Ponds. At Philpott Lake all through the summertime months highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Philpott Lake descend into the 20's. Philpott Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Fairy Stone State Park is a splendid local campground; on a great day you can take a hike along the Casters Trail. This lake                  is so wonderful. Philpott Lake is not far at all from Martinsville, and get yourself into a kayak and hit North Mayo. Bowens Branch is a brilliant place to stop by, and a great nearby hotel is Quality Inn Dutch Inn. Float down the rapids of Smith River in a kayak; if you need a location to stay Knights Inn Collinsville is a good choice.
