Penniman Spit is a tremendous location to go to near Penniman Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There is a tremendous hiking trail close to Penniman Lake called the James River Trail, and Days Hotel Williamsburg Busch Gardens Area is a good spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to hit the       beach, Yorktown Beach is in the vicinity, and the cheerful people of Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News like to hang out close by. After a long day outdoors Crowne Plaza Hotel WILLIAMSBURG is a splendid location to spend a night or two; Pond Number 10 is a wonderful lake nearby. If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Penniman Lake. Going for a hike on the College Run Trail is always a good adventure, and Anvil Campground is                  a fine campground nearby. Felgates Creek is a stream that you may stumble upon while here, and Newport News Park Campground is a glorious local campground. Much rainfall falls at Penniman Lake; July is the month that gets the most rain while April is regularly the driest month. Through the days of summer here at Penniman Lake, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while Penniman Lake overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.
