Get your heart beating on the tremendous whitewater of James River, and people from Lynchburg love to come here. Wildwood Campground is a wonderful campground nearby, and if the weather is wonderful, you can go for a hike along the Terrapin Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. This is a glorious region for people who like lakes.       Poplar Forest Lake is a lake nearby, and Old Elkton Lake is a good site to visit for more than one day, Yogi Bear's Jellystone At Natural Bridge is a good site to camp nearby. This place is peerless, just look at all the entertaining stuff to do near Old Elkton Lake. Ivy Hill Golf Club is a tremendous golf course close by; dry warm beds await you at SpringHill Suites Lynchburg. All through the days of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Old Elkton Lake.                  Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. During the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Old Elkton Lake. This lake is so wonderful. On a good day at Old Elkton Lake you can take a hike along the Cashaw Creek Trail, and after a long day outdoors Hilton Garden Inn Lynchburg is a fine place to spend a night or two. From a rainfall point of view Old Elkton Lake is a relatively typical place; July is the month that gets the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
