Nelson Lake is a nice lake to visit. Lots of rainfall falls at Nelson Lake; the month with most of the rain is October, and the driest of the months is January. An exciting thing to pop by in close proximity to Nelson Lake is Nelson Dam, and camping is available at James River State Park. For the period of the warm days of summer highs here at Nelson Lake get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Nelson Lake. Camping at Lake Nelson Campground is always a good experience, and the Mills Creek Trail is a wonderful hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Rucker Run. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Tye River offers some good
whitewater, and you obtain a delightful vista of Diggs Mountain from here. So many exciting things to do at Nelson Lake, so little time. Very scenic scenery and brilliant skiing is what you get at Wintergreen, and if you need a spot to stay Appomattox Super 8 Motel is a good choice.
