Just getting warmed up. All our national parks are pleasant sites to stop at, and Booker T Washington National Monument is no exception. So much entertaining stuff in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just incredible. Whitewater paddling       is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Roanoke River - South Fork, and Sugarloaf Mountain is a peak you can observe from Medmont Lake. If you're here at Medmont Lake, you could visit Barnhardt Creek, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Suites Inn At Ridgewood Farm is a good location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Trout Creek Appalachian Trail, and there are some splendid whitewater                  spots on Craig Creek. Medmont Lake gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally May, that's the one that rains the most while February is ordinarily the driest month. Grindstone - George Washington National Forest is a great local campground; don't leave Medmont Lake without first going for a hike along the Dragon Tooth Trail. There are other sites here than Medmont Lake, for example Crestmoor Lake, and if you need a site to stay Days Inn Salem is a wonderful choice. This lake is so wonderful. You can take a little tour to Windsor Lake Dam while you're here at Medmont Lake, and why not camp at Beartree - George Washington National Forest while you're here at Medmont Lake. And that's not all the things you can do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Go for a hike on the North Mountain Trail, and lakes are such calm places, why not visit Kimble Lake. High temperatures at Medmont Lake throughout the summer are in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Throughout the winter the highs are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at Medmont Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
