Oronoco Campground is a fine campground nearby; there are other spots here than Mays Pond, for example Thrasher Lake. Good hiking is available along the Tolley Gap Trail, and lakes are such peaceful sites, why not stop at Sweetbriar Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A good location for whitewater paddling near Mays Pond is Piney River - South Fork, and a wonderful close by hotel is Madison Heights Knights Inn. This lake is so wonderful. Holiday Inn Select Lynchburg, Va is a delightful place to get some rest, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mays Pond; Cashaw Creek Trail is a wonderful local trail. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff at Mays Pond.
