At Mays Pond you can distinguish Jennings Mountain, and Mays Pond is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Oronoco Campground is a delightful local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Sweetbriar Lake; there are some       splendid whitewater spots on Buffalo River. For the period of the months of summer highs here at Mays Pond get into the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's with temperatures at Mays Pond dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is magnificent here at Mays Pond, you can go for a hike along the Tolley Gap Trail,                  and a quick tour to Franklin Creek is definitely a great idea. A great location to camp here at Mays Pond is Shady Mountain Campground; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Piney River - South Fork. After a long day outdoors Knights Inn Madison Heights Lynchburg is a great location to spend a night or two, and nearby you locate the White Rock Gap Trail which is a good hiking trail. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Mays Pond. Any time is a great time at Mays Pond if you like the outdoors. The Cashaw Creek Trail is a fine hiking trail in the vicinity of Mays Pond. Lakes are wonderful; Thrasher Lake is a lake that's next to Mays Pond. Dry warm beds await you at Americas Best Value Inn, and a golf course close by is Shadow Ridge Golf Course.
