Do stop by Marrowbone Reservoir while you're in this part of Virginia. If you come at the right time of year, North Mayo offers some good whitewater; you can stay the night at Dan River Campground. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Marrowbone Reservoir you can take a hike along the Casters Trail, and lakes are such serene places, why not go to Dumaines Lake. That right there is loads already, but it goes on; Marrowbone Reservoir has it all. Martinsville

| | Super 8 Motel is a fine site to get some rest, and lots of folks from Martinsville come here.
Summer brings highs in the 80's to Marrowbone Reservoir. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. During the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Marrowbone Reservoir are in the 20's. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Mayo River - North Fork, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Patterson Branch. Marrowbone Reservoir sees pretty high levels of rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is December. This lake is so wonderful.

Hwy 772 access as been roped off with No-Trespassing signs. This access is used a lot during the summer months, but evidently it is private property or someone is confused.
Thought I'd let you know this since it's only a few miles from my house. That's a nice place to get in the river, but evidently somebody don't like the general public to use it. ... |
