Cedar Creek
 | 14 miles away My wife & I canoed this in March of 1986. What I remember, we would go into these curves & it was the most beautiful green pools of clear water. You could see to the bottom. There was a low-water bridge that we had to carry the canoe over. We floated on downstream & just before dark we pulled over to camp. Where we camped was a couple of miles above the waterfall on river left. We had a little party & had taken a little 5 TV & watched David Letterman. The next morning we canoed past the waterfall, past a suspension bridge, paddled several easy class II rapids, & I think we took out at the bridge that was about 3 miles above the Shenandoah River. There was a beautiful old white farmhouse on river right. In summary, Cedar Creek in the upper part has decent current, beautiful pools, flowing through rolling farmland & transitions to microgorges. We have moved to another state & miss doing this trip. ... |
Woodstock Reservoir

Don't be surprised to get chilled if sticking your feet in the water. I fish the reservoir along with the Little Stoney Creek several times during the summer months. Little Stoney has a wonderful population of native brookies.... |
