There are plenty of people from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria here at Lake Thoreau, and Clay Cafe Studios is a delightful local campground. At Lake Thoreau through the summertime highs are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Lake Thoreau temperatures dip       to the 20's. Lake Thoreau is a quite wet place usually with much rainfall; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. If you need a site to stay Sheraton Reston Hotel is a pleasant choice, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Gold Mine Trail. Take a little tour to Little Difficult Run while you're here at Lake Thoreau, and Lake Thoreau is a delightful place to visit for more than one day, Valley Mill Camp is a delightful place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful.
