Staunton River Trail
11 miles away
Incredible hike - park at end of 662, follow Rapidan River to Staunton River Trail - follow trail up to Fork Mt. Road, down to Hoover Road, down to Rapidan hollow, then back to 662 parking area - my guess is 11 miles.  2 50+ adults and an old dog did it in 5:15.  SPECTACULAR!...

Beldor Ridge Trail
13 miles away
The trail may be fine, but I would avoid venturing too deep into Beldor hollow road. These people have lived here for a very long time, and ''dont take kind to strangers''. Just to give you guys an idea, my father worked as a volunteer fire fighter for the Elkton fire department. They got a call for a fire and took a wrong turn. When they went to turn around they had a car, that was not a car that ran, placed in the middle of the road. Quite a feat. After an altercation with the shotgun wielding locals, they were finally pursuaded that someone could be dying while they werent allowing them out. Finally they moved the car back.

Same for several of the hollows around elkton(pronounced ''hollar'' by the local folk). Beldor, Lynnwood, to a lesser extent thouroughfare area. Also Bryant Hollow can be a little rough if they dont reconize you as well....

Charlottesville Reservoir
15 miles away
For years I have been fishing the reservoir, the boat ramp is terrible at the twin bridges, and not enough parking at the dam. Several other fisherman including myself would be more than happy to fix the ramp at the bridges free of charge to the city or county if permission is granted. There is much erosion near the edge of the ramp. Backing your boat in the water is dangerous, trying not to go near the eroded bank. Please call me with a response . THANKS.
