Take a hike on the South River Falls Trail; Shenandoah National Park is a tremendous spot close by. And if that's not enough, there's a load more to do near Lake Saponi. After a long day outdoors Courtyard Charlottesville North is a glorious spot to spend a night or two, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you       then, we recommend Rivanna River - North Fork. For the period of the summertime highs here at Lake Saponi reach the 80's. Summer night lows drop down to the 60's. Highs throughout the winter are ordinarily in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Lake Saponi temperatures plunge to the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Smiths Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and a brilliant nearby hotel is Doubletree Hotel Charlottesville. There's                  always Lake Saponi Dam to have a look at near Lake Saponi, and the Pocosin Hollow Trail offers hiking at its best. Here at Lake Saponi there are plenty of folks from Charlottesville, and do take a look at Bishops Lake, it's a pretty lake. Shenandoah Hills Campground is a great campground nearby. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Saponi a wet location; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. This lake is so wonderful.
