There are some great whitewater spots on Covington River; you can go for a hike on the Sams Ridge Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CULPEPER, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Hughes River and Hazel River. Lake Pelham gets a typical amount of yearly rain; the month with most of the rain is August; January is the month with the least moisture. Just can't get enough of Lake Pelham. | | is a great spot to spend a night or two, and there are other spots here than Lake Pelham, for example Mountain Run Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the White Rocks Trail, and a good place to camp here at Lake Pelham is Lake Anna State Park. Lakes? Sure, Merrimac Lake is in the vicinity, and there's nice hiking along the The Peak Trail.

in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Lake Pelham dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Visit Balds Run if you're here at Lake Pelham, and camping at Cedar Mountain Campground is always a tremendous experience.

If you are paddling the hazel this is a heads up when taking out at the low water bridge on monument mills road. The property owners there are real not so friendly. They think they own the river itself. Just a heads up....Some B and B's are near the put-in and take-out for the Hughes. La Bella Terra at 605 and 606 in Madison County is a weekend B and B in season (May-September)and near the take out. It also offers farmhouse dining on Sat. 540 547 2317.... |
