If you come at the right time of year, Calfpasture River offers some tremendous whitewater; lots of folks from Staunton-Waynesboro come here. At Goshen Dam right next door to Lake Merriweather there are some exciting things to see; there are some glorious whitewater spots on Laurel Run. After a long day outdoors Howard Johnson Inn Lexington, Virginia is a great spot to spend a night or two. There's       so much to do here at Lake Merriweather that you need to camp here for a while, Cold Sulphur Camp Ground is a great place for that. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Lake Merriweather get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Lake Merriweather dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Knob Mountain is easily seen from Lake Merriweather,                  and while you're here, you might as well visit Chambers Hollow. A tremendous close by hotel is Lexington - Days Inn Keydet General, and Lake Merriweather is right by the Goshen Pass Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Long's Campground is a delightful site to do that, and hiking along the Shore Trail is perfect fun. Now, you may believe that's loads but there's even more exciting stuff to do here at Lake Merriweather. If you're here at Lake Merriweather, you could pop by Calfpasture River; going for a hike along the Missing Link Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
