For the period of the warm days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Lake Madison, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Lake Madison temperatures fall to the 20's. Some of the water nearby flows, like Dogue Run; if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Murder Trail.       Any time is a splendid time at Lake Madison if you love the outdoors. If you need a location to stay Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Fredericksburg South, VA is a magnificent choice; if you have time to spare, Fort Washington Park is a national park worth stopping at. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Lake Madison that you need to camp here for a while, Four winds Golf and Camping Club is a fine spot for that, and Aquia Creek is a                  tremendous whitewater spot nearby. On a great day at Lake Madison you can take a hike along the Mansion Trail, and in case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Quantico Creek. Stay the night at Caledon Natural Area, and Lake Madison Dam is delightful. Lake Madison is a good location of common rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May while February is generally the driest month. The Kell Trail is a wonderful hiking trail right next door to Lake Madison, and a tremendous nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Dahlgren, Va.
