The Bournes Branch Trail is a great hiking trail near Kennedys Lake, and a great site for whitewater paddling is Chestnut Creek. The yearly rainfall here at Kennedys Lake is about average; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. Do take a look at Byllesby Reservoir next to Kennedys Lake, it's a pretty lake, and a splendid nearby       hotel is Galax Knights Inn. This spot, the Blue Ridge Mountains, has so much outdoors exciting things. There's so much to do here at Kennedys Lake that you need to camp here for a while, New River Trail State Park is a magnificent place for that; if you need a place to stay Rodeway Inn Galax is a brilliant choice. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. New River is a nice whitewater spot next to Kennedys Lake, and Buck                  Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could visit. If only every site had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great earth it would be. Visit Cranberry Creek if you're here at Kennedys Lake, also Russell Dam is worth taking a look at since you're here. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. Near Kennedys Lake you stumble on the Cliff Branch Trail which is a good hiking trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Kennedys Lake with night lows in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 40's, and night lows all through the wintertime for Kennedys Lake tend to be in the 10's.
