During the months of summer at Johnson Pond highs are ordinarily in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Johnson Pond. You can run the rapids of Rappahannock River near Johnson Pond; hiking along the Belle Meade Linden Trail is great fun. This lake is so wonderful.       Shenandoah River State Park is a brilliant campground nearby. From Johnson Pond you get a good view of Poes Mountain, and if you came for an overnight stay Sky Meadows State Park is a magnificent location to camp. If only every location had this much outdoors exciting stuff, what a great planet it would be. Johnson Dam is a site that is near Johnson Pond, and South Wales Golf Course is a wonderful golf course close by. Some of the water close by flows, like                  Thumb Run; if you need a location to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CULPEPER is a splendid choice. From a rain point of view Johnson Pond is a rather common place; most of the rain falls during August while January is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Warrenton Howard Johnson Inn, and do take a hike on the Rattlesnake Trail.
