If you are traveling by, why not stop by Hurtts Pond. If you need a place to stay Clifton Inn is a good choice; this is a popular place for folks from Charlottesville. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Rivanna River offers some perfect whitewater, and Hurtts Pond is a great location to visit for more than one day, James River Runners is a great location to camp nearby.

All the water falling down from the sky makes Hurtts Pond a wet spot; May is when you get the most rain here while January is mostly the driest month. A quick journey to Barn Branch near Hurtts Pond is a good idea, and Keswick Hall At Monticello is a great site to get some rest.
