Throughout the summer at Hamilton Lake highs are usually                  in the 80's, and the overnight is a little cooler of course, regularly in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Hamilton Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. After a long day outdoors Wintergreen Resort is a delightful spot to spend a night or two; Lake Nelson Campground is a fine local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Rockfish River - South Fork, and if you need a place to stay Quality Inn Waynesboro is a perfect choice. And that's not all you can do here at Hamilton Lake. If the weather is pretty, you acquire a good sight of McClain Mountain from Hamilton Lake, and you can have a glorious hiking adventure along the Turkey Pen Ridge Trail. If you come at the right time of year, Stoney Creek offers some good whitewater, and Bernard Hamilton Dam is a location that is in the neighborhood of Hamilton Lake.
