Bernard Hamilton Dam is picturesque and it's near Hamilton Lake, and Quality Inn Waynesboro is a good spot to get some rest. A round of golf at nearby Swannanoa Country Club is a pleasant way to kill some time, and on a great day you can take a hike along the White Rock Gap Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Wintergreen is a good local ski area, and       if you came to camp Sherando Lake Campground is a wonderful location to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Hamilton Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Nelson Campground is a glorious local campground, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Payne Pond. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in close proximity to Hamilton Lake. A splendid close by hotel is Wintergreen Resort; if the                  weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Mills Creek Trail. What a place this is for outdoors folks. From a rainfall point of view Hamilton Lake is a relatively normal place; through August this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Lakes are good; Lake Monocan is a lake that's near Hamilton Lake, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Turkey Pen Ridge Trail. Some close by water includes Allen Creek, and get drenched paddling on Rockfish River - South Fork. At Hamilton Lake during the days of summer highs are in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 60's.
