This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Potomac River, and Fox Lake is not the only place close by, Timber Lake is a close by lake. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a delightful time here at Fox Lake. Why not take a refreshing       hike along the Meadow Trail, and naturally Little Difficult Run flows through this region. Lots of folks from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria come to Fox Lake. There are some great whitewater spots on Difficult Run; if you've had enough of Fox Lake, Lake Audubon is nearby. While you're here at Fox Lake you can play some golf at Penderbrook Golf Club; you can stay the night at Clay Cafe Studios. A great nearby hotel is Comfort Inn University Center, and                  the Gold Mine Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Fox Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Hillwood Camping Park is a good location for that; there's great hiking along the Potomac Heritage Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Fox Lake a wet spot; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is frequently the driest month. Summertime highs at Fox Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
