The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Emporia Lake while nighttime lows are regularly in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are generally in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Emporia Lake sink into the 20's. Emporia Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Cattail Creek Campground is a wonderful local campground, and       Emporia Dam is picturesque. If you need a spot to stay Sleep Inn Emporia is a magnificent choice, and in case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Roanoke River. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Yogi Bear's Jellystone Camp is a great spot to do that; you're sure to encounter some good folks from Roanoke Rapids here. Quality Inn Emporia is a pleasant location to get some rest.
