Elkhorn Lake is a tremendous location to visit for more than one day, Stokesville Park Recreational is a tremendous location to camp nearby; Elkhorn Mountain is clearly visible from Elkhorn Lake. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Elkhorn Lake. On a magnificent day at Elkhorn Lake you can take a hike along the North River Gorge Trail, and Little River - North R. Tributary                  is a magnificent whitewater spot nearby. Lakes are such serene spots, why not take a look at Stark Pond in close proximity to Elkhorn Lake, and North River Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Elkhorn Lake is a location with many visitors from Staunton-Waynesboro; dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Staunton-Golf & Conf Ctr, Va. For the period of the warm months highs here at Elkhorn Lake get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Highs all through the winter are usually in the 40's; nighttime lows at Elkhorn Lake during the winter frequently fall into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
