Sure, Doyle Lake is just a very short distance away. All the water falling down from the sky makes Doyles Pond a wet site; August is when you get the most rain here while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. There are plenty of folks from Roanoke Rapids here at Doyles Pond, and obviously, this is a great vicinity for people who like       lakes, Mitchells Pond is a lake nearby. Throughout the summer at Doyles Pond temperatures are mostly in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Doyles Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Cattail Creek Campground, and Econo Lodge Skippers is a brilliant spot to get some rest. Get soaked paddling on Roanoke River, and after a long day                  outdoors Red Carpet Inn Emporia is a fine place to spend a night or two.
