This lake is so wonderful. Do explore Nelson Lake near Davis Pond, it's a wonderful lake. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Davis Pond has to offer, you can camp at James River State Park. You can see High Peak from Davis Pond; you can go for a hike on the Mills Creek Trail. What would winter be without some skiing at Wintergreen, and a great nearby hotel       is Quality Inn Waynesboro. High temperatures at Davis Pond all through the summer are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's while Davis Pond night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. The high level of rain makes Davis Pond a pretty wet site; the wettest month of the year is regularly October, that's the one that rains the most while January is regularly the driest month.                  Near Davis Pond you discover the Turkey Pen Ridge Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail; Davis Pond is a nice site to visit for more than one day, Lake Nelson Campground is a nice site to camp nearby.
