The beauty of Cushaw Reservoir is reason enough to stop by. This lake is located in the wonderful Blue Ridge Mountains. If you need a place to stay Red Carpet Inn Lexington is a glorious choice, and lakes are such peaceful sites, why not stop by Sheppe Pond. Bear's Jellystone At Natural Bridge is a great local campground. A good nearby hotel is Natural Bridge Hotel, and if you're popping by from Lynchburg, you won't be the only one. Hamilton Knob is a peak you can see from Cushaw Reservoir;
on a fine day you can take a hike along the Piney Ridge Trail. During the summertime at Cushaw Reservoir highs are commonly in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Highs throughout the winter are ordinarily
in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Cushaw Reservoir. Cushaw Reservoir in fact is in the middle of a charming outdoors paradise. A beautiful lake like Otter Lake next to Cushaw Reservoir is a wonderful location
to pop by, and the Rocky Row Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Visit Billys Branch while you're here at Cushaw Reservoir, and get soaked paddling on James River.

River left is a large boulder. if you padle up the eddy of this rock and then murge into the falls you can catch a great wave.
