Do stop by Cedar Lake while you're in this part of Virginia. For the duration of the summer months at Cedar Lake highs are generally in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Cedar Lake drop into the 10's. | | Trail, and Turtle Run Campground is a glorious campground nearby. Cedar Lake gets a typical amount of precipitation; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. A lake nearby is Alder Lake; the Paw Paw Passage Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. miss out on a tour to Catoctin Mountain Park if you're here at Cedar Lake; a round of golf at nearby Poolesville Golf Course is a nice way to kill some time. If you came for an overnight stay Chisel Branch Campground is a delightful
place to camp; if you need a location to stay Hilton Garden Inn Dulles North is a delightful choice. There's good hiking along the Potomac Heritage Trail; Homewood Suites by Hilton Dulles-North/Loudoun, VA is a wonderful spot to get
some rest. Cedar Lake is not the only place close by, Tippecanoe Lake is a close by lake, and Goose Creek is a wonderful whitewater spot close by.

 | Tried to put in at the Fairfax Dam but the City of Fairfax has closed the road and posted no trespassing signs everywhere. Seem to be pretty serious about prosecuting violators and towing cars. The portage around dam is too hard for rafts and steep for others.... |
