At Burton Lake through the summer months highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Burton Lake. Burton Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; July is when you       get the most rain here; January is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent close by hotel is Hampton Inn Smith Mountain LakeGretna, and you'll probably meet some people from Danville here. What a site this is for outdoors folks. After a long day outdoors Mariners Landing at Smith Mountain Lake is a great place to spend a night or two, and while you're here, you could stop at Buckhorn Branch. A great location for whitewater                  paddling close to Burton Lake is Dan River, and Eagle's Roost is a brilliant local campground.
