Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A lake close by is Kennedys Lake, and New River Trail State Park is a pleasant local campground. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Buck Reservoir; all through July this area sees the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Throughout the summertime at Buck Reservoir       highs are ordinarily in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Buck Reservoir tend to be in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. A great vista of wonderful Farmers Mountain is available from Buck Reservoir, and if you come at the right time of year, New River offers some great whitewater.
