This lake is so wonderful. The friendly folks of Washington-Arlington-Alexandria like to hang out nearby; good water scenery is available at Woodside Dam near Black Pond. Throughout the warm months at Black Pond temperatures are regularly in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's, and after the       sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Black Pond drop into the 20's. A tremendous place to pop by close to Black Pond is Mather Gorge, and Black Pond is not the only place close by, Great Falls Estate Lake is a close by lake. If you came for an overnight stay Christopher Run Campground is a wonderful spot to camp. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things near Black Pond. A golf course right next door to Black Pond is Herndon Town Golf                  Course Municipal; a visit to Black Pond wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Calico Rapids. Black Pond gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is when it's the driest. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Potomac River, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Gold Mine Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Prospect Hill is clearly visible from Black Pond, and a nice place for whitewater paddling is Difficult Run. Carroll Branch is one of the streams close by that might be worth checking out, and the panoramas at Fort Washington Park will blow your mind. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Valley Mill Camp is a pleasant local campground, and after a long day outdoors National at Avalon Crescent is a perfect spot to spend a night or two. Going for a hike along the Potomac Heritage Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and Sheraton Premiere At Tysons Corner is a magnificent location to get some rest.
