If you are in this part of Virginia make sure to pay a visit to Big Pond. This lake is so wonderful. On a beautiful day you obtain a vista of Clover Hollow Mountain from Big Pond, and there's nice hiking along the War Spur Trail. Little Stony Creek is a great whitewater spot close to Big Pond, and a splendid place nearby is Rocky Gap. If you came for an overnight stay Moncove Lake State Park is a pleasant site to camp, and delightful hiking is available

| | along the Johns Creek Mountain Trail. During the warmest time of the year at Big Pond highs are commonly in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows at Big Pond throughout the wintertime typically descend into the 20's.
