    A visit to Big Pond is always a good idea. This lake is so wonderful. Back Creek - Jackson Tributary has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot close by. There's so much to do here at Big Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Hidden Valley Campground is a nice spot for that. Much rainfall falls at Big Pond; the month with most of the rain is July while December is generally the driest month. Big Pond really is in the middle of a striking outdoors paradise.  
   You'll need more than a day to look at everything Big Pond has to offer, you can camp at Virginia Power; The Homestead is a delightful local ski area.
Big Pond is right by the Piney Mountain Trail, and here at Big Pond you can catch a sight of House Rock. Through the days of summer highs here at Big Pond get into the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's with
 
               temperatures at Big Pond dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Pond; Bear Rock Trail is a perfect local trail, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Muddy Run Spring.
This lake is so wonderful. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Jackson River. It's a nice idea to take a look at Gulley Run, it's near Big Pond, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Warm Springs Mountain Trail. You simply must stop by Bear Rocks while you're here at Big Pond; everyone close by loves skiing at Snowshoe.
