Big Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Going for a hike on the The Peak Trail is always a delightful adventure. An average amount of rainfall falls at Big Lake; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; the driest month is January. Through the warmest time of the year at Big Lake highs are commonly in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. On a perfect day at Big Lake you can take a hike along the Rattlesnake Trail, and on a pretty day you obtain a tremendous sight of Big Cobbler Mountain from Big Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the wonderful whitewater of Rappahannock River, and why not camp at Shenandoah River State Park since you're here at Big Lake. Life's
too short to enjoy all the fun stuff close to Big Lake. There is a good hiking trail in the neighborhood of Big Lake called the Belle Meade Linden Trail; you can run the rapids of Shenandoah River.
