Summertime highs at Big Island Reservoir generally tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Big Island Reservoir. Get covered with water paddling on James River, and a splendid site to camp here at Big Island Reservoir is Wildwood Campground. After a long day outdoors Natural       Bridge Hotel is a great spot to spend a night or two; since you're here why not go to Harris Hollow. This lake is so wonderful. You don’t have to go far from Big Island Reservoir to catch a sight of the water at Big Island Dam, and Big Island Reservoir is not the only place nearby, Cushaw Reservoir is a nearby lake. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a splendid time here at Big Island Reservoir. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Island Reservoir;                  Cashaw Creek Trail is a delightful local trail, and why not camp at Yogi Bear's Jellystone At Natural Bridge while you're here at Big Island Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Red Carpet Inn Lexington is a great choice; why not take a refreshing hike along the Piney Ridge Trail. Drift down the rapids of Pedlar River in a kayak, and a lake nearby is Otter Lake. Lots of people from Lynchburg come to Big Island Reservoir.
