The top of Flint Stone Mountain is easily made out from Bedford Lake. Why not pop by Bedford Lake Dam while you're here; if you came for an overnight stay Colon Hollow Shelter Campground is a glorious place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Terrapin Mountain Trail is always a perfect adventure, and camping is available at Yogi Bear's Jellystone At Natural Bridge. There       are great sites to look at along the Hunting Creek Trail, and you're sure to encounter some wonderful folks from Lynchburg here. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Bedford/Roanoke Area is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and James River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby. Bedford Lake mostly gets a great deal of rain; July is when you get the most rain here, and January is when it's the driest. Don't leave Bedford Lake without                  first going for a hike along the Sulphur Ridge Trail, and naturally Gunstock Creek flows through this region. Man, is there loads of fun stuff to do near Bedford Lake. Paddling on North Creek is so much fun, and Peaks of Otter Wilderness Lodge is a brilliant spot to get some rest. Summertime highs at Bedford Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
