This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Central Plaza. Don't leave Ashbys Pond without first checking out Hays Monument; a great spot to camp here at Ashbys Pond is Rappahannock River Campground. This lake is so wonderful. There are       other spots here than Ashbys Pond, for example Waltonian Pond, and at Ashbys Dam next to Ashbys Pond there are some out of the ordinary things to see. Get your heart pumping on the splendid whitewater of Rappahannock River, and do take a hike on the Jackson Trail. But wait, there's more to do close to Ashbys Pond. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Rapidan River; lakes are such calm places, why not have a look                  at Fawn Lake. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Ashbys Pond reach the 80's; the overnight is somewhat colder of course, ordinarily in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows through the winter for Ashbys Pond tend to be in the 20's. The annual rainfall here at Ashbys Pond is about average; through May this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest.
