This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Henderson Lake is near Abel Lake, and there's great hiking along the South Valley Trail. Good hiking is available along the Chopawamsic Trail. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Abel Lake has to offer,       you can camp at Aquia Pines Campground. In the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rappahannock River, and let's not forget Long Branch which is a stream that you may run into while you're here. All through the summertime months at Abel Lake highs are usually in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's, and overnight lows all                  through the winter for Abel Lake tend to be in the 20's. Just can't get enough of Abel Lake. The High Meadows Trail offers hiking at its best; Abel Lake is a place with many visitors from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria.
