This lake is one of the great places here in the Uinta Mountains. Teds Lake gets very little rain; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Uinta Mountains.
You'll find a pretty lake called Workman Lake near Teds Lake; fine hiking is available along the Dry Fork Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Do pop by Saucer Lake in

| | the neighborhood of Teds Lake, it's a beautiful lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Teds Lake; Icy Hill Dugway is a wonderful local trail. Be careful coming to Teds Lake, you might not ever wanna return home again. If you come at the right time of year, Uinta River offers some glorious whitewater, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Shale Dugway.

overnight is rather cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Teds Lake. That right there is loads of enjoyable stuff already but it
goes on, the Uinta Mountains has it all. A brilliant site to camp here at Teds Lake is Paradise Campground, and Best Western Inn is a splendid place to get some rest. Teds Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Spirit Lake
Campground is a good local campground, and at Whiterocks Lake Dam near Teds Lake there are some out of the ordinary things to see.

Chepeta Lake
 | Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
Little Elk Lake
| That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
