Spirit Lake is a beautiful lake in the Uinta Mountains. Summertime highs at Spirit Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Spirit Lake temperatures dip to the 0's. | | one day, Hoop Lake Campground is a fine spot to camp nearby, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Inn is a good place to spend a night or two.
There's no way someone can get bored here in the Uinta Mountains. Spirit Lake Dam is not far at all from Spirit Lake. So many enjoyable things to do in the Uinta Mountains, not enough time. Lake is a lake in close proximity. Spirit Lake Campground is a great local campground; Uinta River has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot close by.
This lake is so wonderful. Places like Round Park are brilliant to go to, and
hiking along the Shale Dugway is brilliant fun. The Dry Fork Trail offers hiking at its best. Lakes are good; Lily Pad Lake is a lake that's near Spirit Lake. Spirit Lake is pretty dehydrated frequently; May is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month.

 | Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
Little Elk Lake
| That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
