A perfect nearby hotel is Best Western Capitol Reef Resort, and you can spot Geyser Peak from Rock Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Wonderland Inn is a splendid choice, and Hens Hole Flat is a wonderful site to stretch your legs a bit. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things       in the neighborhood of Rock Lake. Hens Peak Spring is a great local attraction, unsurprisingly you could also go to Raft Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. Elkhorn Campground is a tremendous local campground, and Rock Lake is not the only location nearby, Heart Lake is a nearby lake. Rock Lake is a tremendous place to visit for more than one day, Elk Campground is a tremendous place to camp nearby; why not take a refreshing hike along the Great Western                  Trail. Rock Lake is pretty dried out usually; March is when you get the most rain here while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Rock Lake; Jackson Dugway is a glorious local trail, and there are some great whitewater spots on Fremont River. All through the warm months at Rock Lake highs are mostly in the 90's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's.
