Mud Lake is located in the Uinta Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Fish Creek National Recreation Trail; Clement Lake Dam is a place that is right next door to Mud Lake. While you're here at Mud Lake you can take a hike along the East Fork Pinto Lake Trail; probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Clement Lake is just a very short distance away. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Lake Fork, of course you could also stop by Aspen

| | Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. And that's not all you can do here at Mud Lake. Do set aside some time for Brown Duck Basin since you're here at Mud Lake; you can stay the night at Yellow Pine Campground. Through the summertime months highs here at Mud Lake get into the 80's, and the nighttime is quite cooler of course, frequently in the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are generally in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Mud Lake. | |

This lake is so wonderful. The nice people of Evanston like to hang out close by. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! The Uinta Mountains is unbeatable! Drift down the rapids of Rock Creek in a kayak, and Mud Lake is a great
spot to visit for more than one day, Miners Gulch Campground is a great spot to camp nearby. Mud Lake is a location that is quite dehydrated mostly; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and March is
when it's the driest. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the Uinta Mountains has to offer. Have a perfect hiking adventure along the Bear River Smiths Fork Trail, and if you're here, you might as well stop at East Basin Pass.

Rock Creek
 | (...) The section is comprised of 3 class 3+/IV- drops with swift braided channels in between. It seldom flows since most water is diverted over to the Wasatch front from the Upper Stillwater Dam (it has to spill to be runnable.) Climatologically speaking, March is actually the month of our highest precipitation (which falls as snow, building the pack which then melts in May/June.) Most people find this section of river not nearly as rewarding as other runs in the state.... |
Toquer Lake
 | Great little lake, no signs of visitors, Fishing was ok. fresh worms seem to work best. This is one of those places you go to be alone. Very peaceful. This is probably my favorite place to go! My little piece of heaven! Maybe it will be yours to. Go hiking and enjoy some fishing and beautiful scenery!!!!!!... |
Continent Lake
 | I went there about 15 yrs ago fishing was pretty good.... |
Thompson Lake
 | 11 miles away I disagree with below.
1. Thompson Lake isn't even close to the most remote lake in the Uinta Mountains. For example, lakes like East Slide Lake and Wild Goose Lake are far more remote.
2. The boulderhopping really isn't that bad. It's well worth the trip.
3. There are some nice campsites just east of the lake.
Thompson Lake is off trail, but it's one of the more popular off-trail lakes (but far less popular than trailed lakes!) and well worth the trip....This is the most remote lake in all of the Uinta mountains. It's a hellish 1-2hr boulder-hopping steep hike to get to the lake with NO trails or places to camp. Reserved for only extreme mountaineers.... |
Red Castle Lake
 | 11 miles away Nice lake, tough hike, and windy. Fished in late July, fishing was fair, but the size of the fish were between 14-19 inches. Wind was really blowing the day I fished here.... |
Lower Red Castle Lake
 | 13 miles away Fished this lake in late July this year. Mainly caught 8-9 inch tiger trout, along with some small Brookies, and a few rainbows up to 12 inches. Alot of fish not much size.... |
LaMarla Lake
 | 13 miles away Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla.... |
Grandaddy Lake
 | 15 miles away The trail head leading to grandaddy lake that is around two to four miles. Info on weather conditions at grandaddy lake and info on how bad the mosquitos are right now...no fish... |
Highline Trail
 | 16 miles away The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent. Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find. Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both. It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead on the East... |
Scow Lake
