MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Rock Creek
(...) The section is comprised of 3 class 3+/IV- drops with swift braided channels in between. It seldom flows since most water is diverted over to the Wasatch front from the Upper Stillwater Dam (it has to spill to be runnable.) Climatologically speaking, March is actually the month of our highest precipitation (which falls as snow, building the pack which then melts in May/June.) Most people find this section of river not nearly as rewarding as other runs in the state....

Continent Lake
I went there about 15 yrs ago fishing was pretty good....

Thompson Lake
I disagree with below.

1. Thompson Lake isn't even close to the most remote lake in the Uinta Mountains. For example, lakes like East Slide Lake and Wild Goose Lake are far more remote.

2. The boulderhopping really isn't that bad. It's well worth the trip.

3. There are some nice campsites just east of the lake.

Thompson Lake is off trail, but it's one of the more popular off-trail lakes (but far less popular than trailed lakes!) and well worth the trip....
This is the most remote lake in all of the Uinta mountains. It's a hellish 1-2hr boulder-hopping steep hike to get to the lake with NO trails or places to camp. Reserved for only extreme mountaineers....

Toquer Lake
10 miles away
Great little lake, no signs of visitors, Fishing was ok. fresh worms seem to work best. This is one of those places you go to be alone. Very peaceful. This is probably my favorite place to go! My little piece of heaven! Maybe it will be yours to. Go hiking and enjoy some fishing and beautiful scenery!!!!!!...

LaMarla Lake
10 miles away
Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla....

Grandaddy Lake
12 miles away
The trail head leading to grandaddy lake that is around two to four miles. Info on weather conditions at grandaddy lake and info on how bad the mosquitos are right now...no fish...

Highline Trail
14 miles away
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent.  Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find.  Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both.   It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead  on the East...

Red Castle Lake
14 miles away
Nice lake, tough hike, and windy. Fished in late July, fishing was fair, but the size of the fish were between 14-19 inches. Wind was really blowing the day I fished here....

Lower Red Castle Lake
15 miles away
Fished this lake in late July this year. Mainly caught 8-9 inch tiger trout, along with some small Brookies, and a few rainbows up to 12 inches. Alot of fish not much size....

Scow Lake
15 miles away
Is the lake named after my great great uncle Pete Scow who logged in the unitah mtns in the late 1800 and early 1900's. He was a tie hack. Do you know the history of the name Scow lake?...
