Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla.

LaMarla Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is so wonderful. On a perfect day at LaMarla Lake you can take a hike along the Skinner Cutoff Trail; Altamont Motel is a pleasant location to get some rest. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff at LaMarla Lake. Rock Creek is a splendid whitewater spot close to LaMarla Lake. There's so much to do here at LaMarla Lake that you need to camp here for

| | a while, Splash Dam Campground is a great place for that. So many enjoyable things in the Uinta Mountains, just impressive. LaMarla Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, South Fork Campground is a brilliant local campground.
For the period of the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 80's at LaMarla Lake, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures | |

at LaMarla Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Uinta Mountains. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on
Duchesne River, and East Grandaddy Mountain is a peak you can catch a sight of from LaMarla Lake. LaMarla Lake is one of the lakes here in the Uinta Mountains.
A pleasant tour to Brinton Meadow is a good way to spend an afternoon,
and there is a splendid hiking trail nearby called the Highline Trail. While you're here at LaMarla Lake you can take a hike along the East Fork Pinto Lake Trail, and a lake nearby is Arta Lake. Not much precipitation falls here at
LaMarla Lake; throughout the month of February you get the most snow around here, and June is when it's the driest.
