This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Paradise Campground, and do set aside some time for Johnson Park while you're here at Johnson Lake. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Johnson Lake. Go for a hike on the Icy Hill Dugway, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Inn is a perfect site to spend a night or two. Mesa can be seen from Johnson Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Uinta River. This lake is located in the

| | wonderful Uinta Mountains. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Johnson Lake. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Johnson Lake dip into the 0's. available along the Shale Dugway, and if you've had enough of Johnson Lake, Lily Lake is nearby. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Uinta Mountains. There are perfect locations to look
at along the Dry Fork Trail. That right there is a heap of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Uinta Mountains has it all. If you came for an overnight stay Whiterocks Campground is a glorious place to camp, and you're perhaps addicted to lakes, Watkins Lake is one of those close by.

 | That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
Chepeta Lake
 | Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
