Hades Lake is a lake worth visiting. And that's not all the things to do here in the Uinta Mountains. On a good day at Hades Lake you can take a hike along the Slope Trail, and most likely you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Mohawk Lake is just a very short distance away. This lake is so wonderful. During the warm days of summer highs here at Hades Lake reach the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are

| | in the 30's; overnight lows at Hades Lake during the wintertime mostly dip into the 10's. Hades Lake is one of the lakes here in the Uinta Mountains. There's whitewater on Duchesne River for all you adrenaline people, and why not camp at Splash Dam Campground since you're here at Hades Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There is a wonderful hiking trail near Hades Lake called the Skinner Cutoff Trail, and a great close by hotel is Lodge at Stillwater. | |

Just can't get enough of the Uinta Mountains. If you're here, you might as well pop by Hades Pass; on a wonderful day you acquire a great panorama of Castle Rocks from Hades Lake. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! Hades Lake
is great! If you came for an overnight stay Hades Campground is a nice spot to camp, and there are some brilliant whitewater spots on Rock Creek. Going for a hike on the East Fork Pinto Lake Trail is always a magnificent adventure,
naturally you could also stop by Splash Dam Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Hades Lake gets very little rain; of all the months in a year February is the one with the most snow, and June is the month with the least moisture.

LaMarla Lake
 | Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla.... |
Highline Trail
 | The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent. Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find. Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both. It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead on the East... |

Lake Marion
 | 10 miles away Lake Marion is a very small lake or pond located North of Trial Lake and South West of Star Lake. Rock Creek
 | 12 miles away (...) The section is comprised of 3 class 3+/IV- drops with swift braided channels in between. It seldom flows since most water is diverted over to the Wasatch front from the Upper Stillwater Dam (it has to spill to be runnable.) Climatologically speaking, March is actually the month of our highest precipitation (which falls as snow, building the pack which then melts in May/June.) Most people find this section of river not nearly as rewarding as other runs in the state.... |
