Lakes are splendid; Farnsworth Reservoir is a lake that's right next door to Gates Lake. Not much precipitation falls here at Gates Lake; through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is June. This lake is so wonderful. There are perfect spots to explore along the Oak Belt Trail. At Gates Lake through the summer months highs are in the 90's. During the dark       hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Gates Lake. You're perhaps keen on lakes, Hamilton Reservoir is one of those close by, and you can go for a hike on the Great Western Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Johnson Reservoir Campground, and don't leave Gates Lake without first going for a hike along the Meadow Gulch Salt                  Gulch Trail. There's always Farnsworth Dam to stop by right next door to Gates Lake, and Hampton Inn Richfield is a fine place to get some rest. Gates Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Piute Campground is a great place to camp nearby, and whitewater paddling is nice on Salina Creek. All the outdoors entertaining things right next door to Gates Lake will keep you coming back many times.
