This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Fourth Chain Lake; Shale Dugway is a magnificent local trail. That right there is a load of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Uinta Mountains has it all. While you're here at Fourth Chain Lake, you could also pop by lovely Upper Chain Lake; Fourth Chain Lake is right by the High Line Trail. Summertime highs at Fourth Chain Lake usually tend to be in the 80's. When the night sets in

| | temperatures dip down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Fourth Chain Lake temperatures fall to the 0's. hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff in the Uinta Mountains. Stay the night at Riverview Campground; do stop at Upper Chain Lake Dam since you're here. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous location to stop at close to Fourth
Chain Lake is Roberts Pass, and Best Western Inn is a magnificent spot to get some rest. Krebs Basin is a fine location to stretch your legs a bit. There's so much to do here at Fourth Chain Lake that you need to camp here for
a while, Swift Creek Campground is a brilliant location for that. The Uinta Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Uinta River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby, and the Fish Creek National Recreation Trail offers hiking
at its best. Fourth Chain Lake is regularly a relatively dried up location; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and November is the month with the least moisture.

 | 17 miles away Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
