Fish Lake is always a pleasure to visit. The Uinta Mountains scenery is always beautiful. For the period of the months of summer at Fish Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Fish Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Comfort Inn Evanston is a splendid location to get some rest; there is a great hiking
trail nearby called the Bear River Smiths Fork Trail.
Lyman Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and if you came to camp Little Lyman Lake Campground is a delightful place to do that. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Blacks Fork - East Fork, and going for a hike on the High Line Trail is always a delightful adventure. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Uinta Mountains, not enough time. Fish Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than

a day at, Meeks Cabin Campground is a brilliant local campground; Fish Lake is next to Elizabeth Pass which is certainly worth a visit.
There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Uinta Mountains. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Blacks Fork - West Fork. It is very dry here at Fish Lake ordinarily; through September this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff to do are beyond doubt abundant here at Fish Lake. Do stop by Little Lyman Lake close to Fish Lake, it's a gorgeous lake, and you'll probably meet some people from Evanston here.

Scow Lake

Is the lake named after my great great uncle Pete Scow who logged in the unitah mtns in the late 1800 and early 1900's. He was a tie hack. Do you know the history of the name Scow lake?...

Red Castle Lake
14 miles away
Nice lake, tough hike, and windy. Fished in late July, fishing was fair, but the size of the fish were between 14-19 inches. Wind was really blowing the day I fished here....

Lower Red Castle Lake

Fished this lake in late July this year. Mainly caught 8-9 inch tiger trout, along with some small Brookies, and a few rainbows up to 12 inches. Alot of fish not much size....

Thompson Lake
15 miles away
This is the most remote lake in all of the Uinta mountains. It's a hellish 1-2hr boulder-hopping steep hike to get to the lake with NO trails or places to camp. Reserved for only extreme mountaineers....

Highline Trail
17 miles away
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent.  Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find.  Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both.   It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead  on the East...

LaMarla Lake
19 miles away
Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla....
