Glide down the rapids of Uinta River in a kayak; on a good day you can take a hike along the Dry Fork Trail. Lakes are fine; Walk-Up Lake is a lake that's next to Fish Lake, and the Icy Hill Dugway is a tremendous hiking trail nearby. And that's not all there is to do here in the Uinta Mountains.
This lake is so wonderful. This is a great vicinity for people who like lakes. Burnt Fork Lake is a lake in the vicinity. There's so much to do here at Fish Lake that

| | you need to camp here for a while, Hoop Lake Campground is a glorious location for that. Fish Lake is one of the lakes here in the Uinta Mountains. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. Do set aside some time for McCoy Park if you're here at Fish Lake, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Shale Dugway.

it falls down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows at Fish Lake through the winter commonly fall into the 0's. Fish Lake gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the
year is ordinarily May, that's the one that rains the most; February meanwhile is the driest month. So much cool stuff in the Uinta Mountains, just extraordinary. A pleasant nearby hotel is Best Western Inn. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Fish Lake has to offer, you can camp at Spirit Lake Campground.

 | Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |

That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
