Utah has many beautiful lakes and Fire Lake is one of them. Fire Lake is usually a reasonably dried out place; April is when you get the most rain here; the driest month of the year is July. This lake is one of the great places here in the Uinta Mountains. Yeah, come up here to the Uinta Mountains for a great time. A wonderful lake like Duck Lake close to Fire Lake is a nice spot to pop by, and a wonderful close by hotel is Lodge at Stillwater.

| | coming to the Uinta Mountains, you might not ever wanna return home again. Hiking along the Notch Mountain Trail is magnificent fun; The Deli Dell is a magnificent spot to check out. Summertime highs at Fire Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Fire Lake through the winter frequently descend into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Fire Lake | |

Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out, and do go to Island Lake, it's a charming lake.
Fire Lake is right by the Smith Morehouse Trail, and Cobblerest Campground is a great local campground. After a long day outdoors
Daniels Summit Lodge is a tremendous place to spend a night or two, and if you came for an overnight stay Shady Dell Campground is a great location to camp. This lake is so wonderful.
Man, is there lots of fun things to do in
the vicinity of Fire Lake. Going for a hike along the Nobletts Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and you can run the rapids of Provo River.

Highline Trail

The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent. Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find. Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both. It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead on the East... |

LaMarla Lake

Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla.... |

Great ride from above Woodland to the 1000 E. bridge (which is a good scare during high water, 1500 cfs). After the bridge the log jams, second diversion dam and constant river splits can be fun in the right craft (13 ft raft, not recommended). Great rush!...
