Why not camp at Highline Trail Head Campground while you're here at Evermann Lake; there are brilliant places to look at along the Highline Trail. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Evermann Lake get into the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Evermann Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful.
Spread Eagle Peak is trouble-free to spot from Evermann Lake, and don't leave Evermann Lake without first going for a hike along the Skinner Cutoff Trail.
And if that's not enough there's lots more enjoyable things to do in the Uinta Mountains. It's always good to have a look at Pigeon Milk Spring, and Evermann Lake is not the only location close by, Hyatt Lake is a close by lake. You clearly have to like Evermann Lake. Rocky Sea Pass is near Evermann Lake

and is unquestionably a great location to pop by; going for a hike on the East Fork Pinto Lake Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous location like Naturalist Basin here at Evermann Lake is too great to miss; if you come at the right time of year, Rock Creek offers some good whitewater.
Butterfly Campground is a splendid local campground, and if you get bored of Evermann Lake you could also explore nearby Jordan Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Uinta Mountains.
Just can't get enough of the Uinta Mountains. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Duchesne River, and dry warm beds await you at Americas Best Value Inn and Suites-Evanston. Evermann Lake is pretty dehydrated ordinarily; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.

Highline Trail
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent.  Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find.  Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both.   It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead  on the East...

Thompson Lake
I disagree with below.

1. Thompson Lake isn't even close to the most remote lake in the Uinta Mountains. For example, lakes like East Slide Lake and Wild Goose Lake are far more remote.

2. The boulderhopping really isn't that bad. It's well worth the trip.

3. There are some nice campsites just east of the lake.

Thompson Lake is off trail, but it's one of the more popular off-trail lakes (but far less popular than trailed lakes!) and well worth the trip....
This is the most remote lake in all of the Uinta mountains. It's a hellish 1-2hr boulder-hopping steep hike to get to the lake with NO trails or places to camp. Reserved for only extreme mountaineers....

LaMarla Lake
Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla....

Lake Marion
11 miles away
Lake Marion is a very small lake or pond located North of Trial Lake and South West of Star Lake. My friend Victor Montoya and I visited Lake Marion and caught wild Brook Trout and Golden Trout fly fishing. I was surprised that this lake which is very very small had trout over 12 inches....

Rock Creek
12 miles away
(...) The section is comprised of 3 class 3+/IV- drops with swift braided channels in between. It seldom flows since most water is diverted over to the Wasatch front from the Upper Stillwater Dam (it has to spill to be runnable.) Climatologically speaking, March is actually the month of our highest precipitation (which falls as snow, building the pack which then melts in May/June.) Most people find this section of river not nearly as rewarding as other runs in the state....

Timpanogos Cave National Monument
