And if that's not sufficient, there's plenty more to do near Dime Lake. While you're here at Dime Lake, you could also stop at beautiful Fox Lake, and camping is available at Wandin Campground. You can run the rapids of Yellowstone River near Dime Lake, and Fox Lake Dam is stunning. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Dime Lake. Not much precipitation falls here at Dime Lake; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. Going for a hike on the Shale Dugway is always a great adventure; Crescent Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. This lake is located in the wonderful Uinta Mountains.

things to do here in the Uinta Mountains. Go for a hike on the Dry Fork Trail; Best Western Inn is a great site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Uinta River, and camping at Hoop Lake Campground is always a nice experience.

Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
Little Elk Lake

That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
